Today, Georgia’s Senate Bill 1 takes effect. On April 28, 2025, Georgia took a bold step forward in standing up for truth, fairness, and the safety of girls and women across the state. Governor Brian Kemp signed Senate Bill 1—officially titled the Fair and Safe Athletic Opportunities Act—into law. This commonsense legislation, also known as the Riley Gaines Act, ensures that female athletes in Georgia will no longer be forced to compete against biological males in women’s sports, nor will they be made to share locker rooms, bathrooms, or dormitories in public schools with members of the opposite sex.
While critics argue this bill is about exclusion—it’s really about protecting opportunities and privacy that women and girls have fought hard to secure.
SB 1 accomplishes three key things:
- Protects Women’s Sports
- Designates school athletic teams as male, female, or co-ed based on biological sex, not gender identity.
- Bars biological males from competing in female-designated sports at the K–12 and collegiate levels.
- Ensures a level playing field for girls and women who deserve fair competition and the opportunity to succeed.
2. Upholds Privacy in Intimate Spaces
- Requires public schools and colleges to maintain sex-specific bathrooms, locker rooms, and dormitories.
- Protects students from being forced into uncomfortable or potentially unsafe situations in private settings.
- Schools are encouraged to provide reasonable accommodations for any students who need alternative arrangements.
3. Creates Accountability
- Schools must adopt policies to enforce these provisions.
- Students and athletes who are harmed by violations of this law have the right to pursue legal action.
Georgia is now one of 26 states to pass legislation affirming that sex matters in sports and education. SB 1 sends a clear message: the rights and dignity of girls and women are not up for debate.
We are thankful to lawmakers who stood strong in the face of political pressure and did what was right for Georgia’s families. We encourage citizens in other states to follow Georgia’s lead—because this is a fight for truth, for fairness, and for the future of women’s rights.
If you’re a Georgia resident, take a moment to thank your legislators for passing SB 1. If you live in another state, contact your representatives and urge them to introduce similar legislation. And if you’re a parent, teacher, coach, or student—stay informed, get involved, and speak up.
We must be bold. We must be grounded in truth. And we must protect the next generation from an ideology that seeks to blur what God and nature have made clear.
