February is Black Lives Matter at School Month

February is Black History Month, kicking off today with National Freedom Day.

One year after Wright’s death in 1947, both houses of the U.S. Congress passed a bill to make February 1 National Freedom Day. The holiday proclamation was signed into law on June 30, 1948, by President Harry Truman. It was the forerunner to Black History Day and later Black History Month, officially recognized in 1976, though begun by Carter G. Woodson in 1926

National Freedom Day commemorates the signing by Abraham Lincoln on February 1, 1865, of the joint resolution adopted by the Senate and the House of Representatives that proposed the 13th amendment to the Constitution.

In recent years, Black History Month has been hijacked by Black Lives Matter, with many public schools implementing “Black Lives Matter at School” and starting the month of February with “Black Lives Matter Week.” I don’t know a single person who doesn’t believe that black lives matter and should matter just as much as any other life. But Black Lives Matter is a Marxist organization the promotes queer and transgenderism and promotes the disruption of the nuclear family, not exactly subjects we think of when we consider teaching black history and honoring Black History Month. Their page of beliefs that discusses these was removed in 2020 after they were called out by media and concerned citizens but has been archived by the WaybackMachine.

The Black Lives Matter at School organization comes with a list of DEMANDS. Among these demands is to mandate Black History and Ethnic Studies. I did a deep dive on the Ethnic Studies that is mandated here in Washington state and learned that the curriculum is Critical Race Theory, under the name of Ethnic Studies. This is a way to indoctrinate students and make them feel guilty for the color of their skin or the family into which they were born, telling children that they are “oppressors” due to circumstances over which they have no control.

Another demand is to “fund counselors not cops.” During the month of December, we saw schools around the state, and the country, lockdown, or shutdown altogether due to violent threats. Many schools in Washington state no longer have SROs (Safety Resource Officers) because of the demands from groups like Black Lives Matter. Parents of all political affiliations were questioning the safety and security of our students during these lockdowns. I think we can all agree, a school counselor is not equipped in the way that a police officer is to respond to violent threats and active shooter situations. But…if the BLM folks demand it, I guess we gotta do it…

BLM at school has a list of 13 Guiding Principles, among them is Globalsim, Trans Affirming, Queer Affirming, and Black Women, building a space free of male-centeredness. There are lesson plans available on the BLM at School website, many of which teach about queer and trans organizing. These lessons are available from Kindergarten through high school and are encouraged in most school districts in Washington state and around the country.

I believe it’s important to teach our students Black History. There is no shortage of amazing material that gives truth and honor to the history of black people in America and around the world. Our children should learn this, without exception. Black Lives Matter at School is not an attempt to educate our students about black history, rather, it’s yet another way to indoctrinate them with critical race theory and LGBTQ ideology. BLM brings recent social justice issues into the classroom. These are very subjective issues, and the aim is to only tell one perspective and one side of the story. This is very intentional as BLM and (Ethnic Studies in Washington) both aim to turn children into activists.

This is just a brief overview of what your children are probably being taught at school this month. Most schools are very proud of this and have sent communications to parents. If you haven’t seen anything, please contact your student’s school and ask.

This is another aspect of public schools where parents need to push back and speak up. Better yet, remove your children from these schools and spare them from the indoctrination altogether. But please, stay in the fight. We need every voice and every vote!
