Last week Senate Republicans Katie Britt (R-AL), Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Kevin Cramer (R-ND) introduced a new bill called the MOMS Act (More Opportunities for Moms to Succeed) that would offer a variety of resources and supports to pregnant and postpartum women and new moms, during the early stages of motherhood.
The bill would:
- Establish Pregnancy.gov – a federal clearinghouse of resources available to expecting and postpartum moms, as well as those with young children.
- This clearinghouse would increase access to adoption agencies, pregnancy resource centers, and other relevant public and private resources available to pregnant women within their zip code and surrounding areas.
- As part of Pregnancy.gov, HHS would be required to include and maintain a national list of federal funding opportunities available to non-profit and healthcare entities for pregnancy support.
- Improve access to pre- and post-natal resources.
- This legislation would establish a grant program for non-profit entities to support, encourage, and assist women in carrying their pregnancies to term; and to care for their babies after birth.
- It would also provide tools for pre-natal and post-natal telehealth appointments by instituting a grant program to purchase necessary medical equipment and technology in rural areas and other medically underserved areas.
- Require states to apply child support obligations to the time period during pregnancy, if so requested by the mother.
At a time when many politicians and organizations and activist groups are focused on a very pro abortion agenda, mothers who want to choose life are often an afterthought and really need the supports and resources that legislation like the MOMS Act would require the government to provide.
Of course, pro-abortion Senator Patty Murray (R-WA) is appalled at the idea that anyone would want to keep their baby and that the government would actually spend money to help them successfully parent their child. Murray took to X (fka Twitter) to rant about the MOMS Act.
In her posts, Murray failed to include a link to the text of the bill or even the name so that citizens could go look it up for themselves. A common strategy of democrats is to put their spin on an issue, without giving citizens the actual facts to decide for themselves. It’s easier to sell the idea that the GOP is a bunch of fascist dictators that want women to be barefoot and pregnant, if they don’t include the facts.
This particular piece of legislation is one that is common sense – a bill that most Americans would be happy to support. It’s not about abortion, it’s about supporting mothers. The idea that this bill would be supported by people of all political affiliations is terrifying for radical left democrats like Murray.
You see, people like Patty Murray understand that the hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world…they know that mothers have extraordinary powers to change the culture through her children. And this is why we see such a great effort to destroy families. Strong families = strong America!
Send Patty Murray a message and let her know mothers deserve support. It takes less than one minute to drop your opinion in her inbox!
